Camp Ramah in Canada
Enduring Friendships, Values and Community
Camp Ramah in Canada has transformed the lives of more than 30,000 children and young adults with exciting programs and meaningful Jewish experiences that build character, cultivate skills and develop future leaders.
With a generous fee assistance program, Camp Ramah in Canada is committed to serving a diverse population and to providing a Ramah experience that nurtures friendships, values and community that endure beyond the summer months.
In addition to our Price Freeze and Early Registration Draw, Camp Ramah in Canada is committed to serving a diverse population. We have a generous scholarship program as we feel strongly that the Ramah experience should be available to every family, regardless of their capacity to pay. We raise a significant amount of money each year in order to accommodate as many scholarship requests as possible.
For over 20 years, Camp Ramah in Canada has offered an overnight summer camping experience for Jewish children ages 12-21 with special needs. Our goal is to provide these children with the same summer camp opportunities as children without disabilities, and to form a community where everyone learns the values of diversity, acceptance and inclusion. Our Tikvah program has a profound impact on our entire camp community and on the participants of the program itself. For more information on the Tikvah program, please click here.
Camper Care Program
Ramah is different than most other camps in that it is grounded by a team of professional social workers who provide senior-level support and care to the camper community. Our adult advisors are in regular contact with campers, staff and parents, ensuring that communication is seamless and constructive.
We recognize that different children are ready for the overnight camp experience at different ages. We offer a variety of different “Taste” opportunities – shorter programs enable younger children to experience Ramah in a way that suits them best. Click here for a list of our Taste Opportunities.
Every generation, we watch as Ramah campers emerge as leaders throughout our community. At Ramah, campers and staff have the opportunity to hone their leadership skills – building programs, supervising activities, and taking on new responsibilities each summer. We take to heart that we are building our community.
Located in the heart of Muskoka, just two hours north of Toronto, Camp Ramah in Canada operates under the auspices of the Jewish Theological Society in Canada and under the educational supervision of the National Ramah Commission in New York.
Campers currently in Grades 3-8 are generally accepted either for a one-session program (approximately 3 1/2 weeks) or for the full season (approximately 7 weeks). Teenagers in Grades 9 & 10 participate in full session camping. Campers in Grades 1, 2, 3, and 4 are eligible for our shorter “Taste” Opportunities. Camp Ramah in Canada offers a six-week Tikvah program for campers, ages 12-24, with developmental disabilities who want to share in the full Ramah experience.
