Incredible Waterfront and Sports Activities
Camp Ramah in Canada is built on a beautiful Skeleton Lake in the Muskoka region of Ontario. The lake is not only spectacular, but it is also a hub of activity. Swimming, waterskiing, canoeing, kayaking and sailing are part of each camper’s daily routine. Sports are also an integral part of the daily program, where campers choose from a wide range of options including soccer, softball, tennis, ultimate frisbee, basketball, hockey, spinning and more. Sports instruction culminates in several friendly inter-camp competitions throughout the summer. And Yom Sport, a daylong Colour War run by our oldest campers, is indeed a highlight!
Skill Building Opportunities
Beyond the waterfront and sports activities, Camp Ramah in Canada is committed to offering campers a wide range of opportunities that extend their scope of interest and build skills. Special activities include cooking, arts and crafts, theatre arts, music, photography, woodworking, beading, ceramics, and more. The Ramah program also includes gardening, hiking and biking, and overnight camping trips-all designed both to develop campers’ camping and scouting skills and to enhance their appreciation for their natural environment. Always looking for new, exciting activities to enrich our program, we now offer a week of intensive skill-building activities for campers as part of our Shavuah Sababa. Sababa means “Awesome” in hebrew. With intensive instruction from visiting experts in activities like yoga, drama, magic, martial arts, summer science, this speciality week embedded in our second session is indeed a Week of Awesome!
As the camping arm of the North American Conservative Movement, all aspects of the Ramah experience are built on a solid foundation of Jewish values and practice. Campers and staff participate in tefillah, Shabbat, and ongoing Jewish education. Hebrew is an implicit part of the daily routine, and Israel is a priority focus in programs and activities.
