We are excited to be offering virtual taste of the Ramah magic this summer from July 6th – July 24th.  As you will see below, we are offering a variety of options with various levels of time commitment.  We want to provide a chance for our campers to connect with their peers and madrichim, have fun, and to learn new things!  We also want to balance that with the commitment to getting kids outside and off their screens.

We know that nothing can compare with a summer at camp, but we hope to bring your camper the next best thing!

We will offer:

Peulot Edah (Age Divison Activities)

Edot (age divisions) will come together during the week to laugh, compete, and more. The roshei edah (division heads) and staff will host peulot (activities) that mirror some of our best camp fun!

HOW DID YOU ARRIVE AT THIS SCHEDULE?

Based on parent feedback we are focusing our virtual summer programming on small group cabin experiences. Our surveys and focus groups affirmed the positive impact that camp has on building friendships, creating a feeling of home, and nurturing Jewish identity — our programs will highlight these core competencies. We have planned the schedule in response to parent feedback and will offer camp programming 2-3 times a week for younger campers and once a week for older campers. In addition, we will offer live and on-demand content on a regular basis each week throughout the summer.

CAN CHILDREN JOIN THE VIRTUAL PROGRAM THIS SUMMER EVEN IF THEY WERE NOT REGISTERED FOR CAMP?

Yes! This virtual experience is a great way for younger siblings and friends from around the Toronto area to get a taste of Ramah. Spread the word — children entering grades K – 2 are welcome to participate in the programs appropriate for their grade. Parents will just need to register them in advance for each virtual program.

WHO WILL LEAD THE PROGRAMS AND WHAT TRAINING DO THEY HAVE?

We are hiring roshei eidah (unit heads) to oversee different grade level programming, just as they would be doing in Conover and Wheeling. These college graduates are experienced members of our summer staff.

We are also hiring counselors who will be assigned to different eidot and cabins throughout the summer. These college students will be participating in a three-week professional development program prior to the start of camp through the Nachshon Project.

All virtual programming staff were hired to work at camp this summer and have passed a background check.

WILL THERE BE ANY COST FOR THESE VIRTUAL RAMAH EXPERIENCES?

Our virtual summer experiences will be offered at no cost to families. We hope that you and your campers enjoy these activities generously sponsored by partner organizations and individual donors.
