Get to know Yitzi!

Yitzi serves as one of the Co-Directors of Camp Ramah in Canada. Before joining Ramah, Yitzi was the Director of Engagement for Wellspring at the Shalom Hartman Institute of North America. He also played a pivotal role in the Hevruta Gap-Year Program for Israelis and North Americans, where he managed the program’s educational vision, daily operations, and community life.

Yitzi’s diverse background includes working as a mental illness rehabilitation instructor, supporting special needs communities, serving as a therapeutic counselor, and coordinating and volunteering with asylum seekers. He holds a master’s degree in Community Social Work from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and a BA in psychology from IDC Herzliya.

Having grown up in summer camps himself, Yitzi has always cherished the special bonds formed in these unique environments. His early camp experiences began at Ramah Day Camp in Jerusalem. After making Aliyah at age 10, Yitzi continued his camp journey at a sleep-away camp, building lifelong friendships and memories that continue to shape his passion for camp life.

Yitzi lives in New York with his wife, Avital, and their two children, Elori (6) and Libi (3). When he’s not at camp, Yitzi enjoys eating ice cream and watching Shark Tank. He finds the most magical part of Camp Ramah in Canada to be the serenity of the Agam at sunset.

His favorite piece of advice? “Life is full of opportunities – you just have to know how to achieve them.”
